Day 01: Corbett National Park
Meals: Lunch at Tiger Camp & Dinner in Dhikala
Connect overnight air-conditioned train the previous night from Old Delhi railway station at 2245 hours. Arrival at Ramnagar today at 0500 hours. You will be met at the station. Wash & Change, Breakfast at Tiger Camp (optional). OR Drive from Delhi or Dehradun, arriving at Corbett by noon.
Corbett Tiger reserve has spectacular avifauna diversity. Great hornbill, Pallas’s fish eagle, red-collared falconet etc. are some of the rare birds that are found in Corbett. More birds include jungle owlet, scaly-bellied woodpecker, red-breasted parakeet, Himalayan swiftlet, stork-billed & crested kingfisher and white-tailed & Siberian rubythroat. You will explore the river edge at Kumeria for tawny & brown fish owl, Asian barred owlet, plumbeous redstart, brown dipper and the three species of forktails. Other species that are possible in the forest are crested tree swift, spangled drongo, blue bearded bee-eater etc. Drive to Riverine Woods.
Please note that the accommodation in Riverine Woods is basic but has en suite toilet and shower.
Day 02: Corbett National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Full day for birding and wildlife viewing. Birding in the jungle track along the Ramganga River is very rewarding for water birds such as river lapwings, waders, mergansers and other waterfowl. While relaxing at the lodge or visiting the grasslands one can see long-tailed nightjar, jungle owlet, spot-bellied owl, common stonechat, black francolin, purple and crimson sunbird, golden-fronted & orange-bellied leafbird, black-shouldered kite, hen harrier, changeable hawk-eagle, chestnut-tailed starling etc.
Overnight stay at Riverine Woods.
Day 03: Corbett National Park
Meals: Breakfast & Packed Lunch
Morning birding. One can expect to see great slaty woodpecker, great hornbill, puff-throated babbler, white-rumped shama, Pallas’s fish eagle, green magpie etc.
Afternoon elephant or Jungle 4WD safari (optional; on direct payment) through the grasslands and mixed forests. This is the best mode of transport for tiger-tracking.
Return for dinner to Tiger Camp. You will be transferred to Ramnagar railway station to connect overnight air-conditioned train at 2030 hours, arriving old Delhi railway station the next morning at 0500 hours. OR drive back to Delhi (7 hours) at noon, arriving in the evening.
