Whether you are constrained by time or budget, or even if Corbett is just one short stop on a list of destinations, this short tour is perfect to get the best out of Corbett in the shortest time.
Day 01: Delhi – Corbett National Park
Catch the air-conditioned train from old Delhi railway station at 2245 hours and arrive at Ramnagar at 0500 hours. You will be met at the station and transferred to Tiger Camp where you can freshen up. Breakfast at Tiger Camp (optional). Alternatively, you can drive from Delhi to Dehradun and
arrive at Tiger Camp by noon for lunch. Corbett Tiger reserve has spectacular avifauna. Great Hornbill, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Collared Falconet
etc. are some of the rare birds that are found in Corbett. More birds include Jungle Owlet, Scaly- bellied Woodpecker, Red-breasted Parakeet, Himalayan Swiftlet, Stork-billed & Crested Kingfishers, and Himalayan and Siberian Rubythroats. You will explore the river edge at Kumeria for Tawny & Brown Fish Owls, Asian Barred Owlet, Plumbeous Water Redstart, Brown Dipper and the three species of forktails. Other species that are possible in the forest are Crested Treeswift, Hair-crested Drongo, Blue-bearded Bee-eater etc. Drive to Riverine Woods. Please note that the accommodation in Riverine Woods is basic but has en suite toilet and shower.
Meals: Lunch at Tiger Camp & Dinner in Dhikala
Day 02: Corbett National Park
Full day for birding and wildlife viewing. Birding in the jungle track along the Ramganga River is very rewarding for water birds such as River Lapwing, waders, mergansers and other waterfowl. While relaxing at the lodge or visiting the grasslands one can see Long-tailed Nightjar, Jungle Owlet, Spot- bellied Eagle-Owl, Siberian Stonechat, Black Francolin, Purple and Crimson Sunbirds, Golden-fronted & Orange-bellied Leafbirds, Black-winged Kite, Hen Harrier, Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Chestnut-tailed
Starling etc. Overnight stay at Riverine Woods.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 03: Corbett National Park – Delhi
Morning birding. One can expect to see Great Slaty Woodpecker, Great Hornbill, Puff-throated Babbler, White-rumped Shama, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Common Green Magpie etc. Afternoon elephant or jeep safari (optional; on direct payment) through the grasslands and mixed forests. These are the best modes of transport for tiger-tracking. Return for dinner to Tiger Camp. You will be transferred to Ramnagar railway station to connect overnight air-conditioned train at 2030 hours, arriving old Delhi railway station the next morning at 0500 hours. OR drive back to Delhi (7 hours) at noon, arriving in the evening.
